Hmmm . . . interesting question. I would like to think that even if nothing else could get through to a racist, the sweet innocence of a baby, would be so transcendent, so beyond anything that has to do with race, that the racist would then be able to see beyond the baby's race and love it for its own self. However, racism exists because people refuse to see the truth. They have hardwired, irrational beliefs that cannot be refuted by "mere" facts. They will believe what they will, no matter what the rest of us say or do.

My grandmother is 92 years old, and though she isn't racist, she lived her whole life in a very white community. By the time people of color started moving into our community, she was pretty much confined to home and limited outings with family. Then I had a baby; my daughter is bi-racial. Now, my grandma, who never before met a black person, has held, and rocked and more important, LOVES, a little girl of color. So, maybe holding a baby may be more powerful than we'll ever know!

yes.
some people are so racist, they would DROP the baby.
i, being a non-racist, cannot understand why someone would discrimate against another person because of race, religon, gender, or any reason at all.
whats the point? why cause more trouble in the world when there is so much we need to fix already? why pass on that harsh four-letter word HATE?
i dont think ill ever get the answers.

The moment we STOP treating individuals as INDIVIDUALS, we become as racists. Who is holding the baby and why. If you are thinking a person could change from negative to positive concerning racism, I find it very unlikely because it is human first nature to be negative, and humans are in the habit of staying with their chosen negatives.

The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative.

There is something wrong in my statement, first paragraph. Can you identify it?

In my opinion some but generally I don't think so.If a person hates a group of person for their race especially if they grew up hating anyone outside of their race it would take a miracle.

I dont think so. Why? because racism is hate how would a white man who hated black people suddenly love the black race just by holding a black baby? I dont see it

I think racism is a form of jealousy. I am not racist...racism is an individual who hates a certain race because of envy & jealousy. People think racism is hatred but I think its much deeper because why hate someone because of their skin color? It has to be because of envious & jealousy. Thats my input.

Unfortunalty, it probably wouldn't. I say this because they probalby won't allow themselves to hold it. They would be so close minded that they wouldn't even consider it.
