Simplify the rational expression

2x^2 – 12x + 18 / 2x^2 – 18

Please explain

2(x^2 -6X +9) / 2(x^2 - 9) =

x^2 - 6x +9 / x^2 -9 =

(x-3)(x-3) / (x+3)(x-3)=

(x-3) / (x+3)

2(X^2-6x+9)
=========
2(x^2-9)

2(x-3)(x-3)
==========
2(x-3)(x+3)

the 2 's and 2 of the x-3 cancel out

answer x-3/x+3
