Water comes out simultaneously until you pull up the shower pin. The plumber has just left the house and said I should call the Delta help line. Delta help line said it's an install issue. Apparently, my plumber didn't know what he was doing. I have really nice tile on the shower wall and on the other side of the wall I have a shallow wall with a small access door. I also have 2 tenants moving in Wednesday evening. What should I do? I think I'm going to forget using the other plumber. What do I do to move on now, in the most cost effective way to get this problem fixed.

Look in through the access door and see if you can get a good look at the valve. They are stamped UP with an arrow for the direction of the shower. It could be installed upside down. If that's the case, then the only fix is to remove the valve and reinstall it in the correct position.

It sounds like you just had a tub&shower diverter replaced, and now you have water coming out of both the shower head and the tub spout. If this is the case, the plumber has installed your Delta diverter upside-down. The diverter body has to be taken out, and rotated 180' to work properly. OR there is some sort of blockage in the tub spout itself, unscrew the tub spout (counterclocwise) and remove possible blockage.

It's very possible that this valve is in upside down. You should look through the access panel and look on the back of the valve....it should a stamp in the brass that says "UP" and an arrow. The arrow should of course be pointing UP! If it doesnt then the valve will need to be taken out and reinstalled properly. If it is installed properly then you should see about getting a new divertor stem. It's quite possible that may be the only problem.....good luck

Delta is right. It is an install issue. Get another plumber. Does Delta have any recommendations in your area?

Have the new plumber give you a WRITTEN estimate that clearly spells out what you want when he/she is finished with the job. That way if it doesn't work, you have recourse.

IF ITS A TWO(2) HANDLE TUB AND SHOWER VALVE IT WAS INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN. IVE SEEN IT BEFORE. WHEN INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN, THE WATER WILL COME OUT OF THE SPOUT & THE SHOWER HEAD AT THE SAME TIME, CALL BACK THE PLUMBER AND HAVE HIM GET BACK IN THE WALL BEHIND THE TUB & FLIP THAT PUPPY THE RIGHT WAY. GOOOOOD LUCK!!!!

when someone does a job for you make sure the item is working before paying them.when you hire a plumber make sure that hr is reliable and gives you a warranty, just because people call themselves plumber,or electricians does not mean that there good, even licensed ones.
