Good question which would be easy to answer if the child were born in America or on a government installation!

After Vietnam, and the number of children who were Vietnamese and American didn't seem to make a difference for them!

If the child was born out of wedlock and the fathers name is not on the birth certificate, No!

I really suspect the answer is no anyway, unless the father wants to take steps through the US government to get him here!

The child isn't 1/2 American! The child is the product of a father who is American!

I wish there was a better answer for you. I don't think that there is!

Any child born to an American citizen is automatically a citizen. The baby doesn't have to "become" a citizen, it IS a citizen if either the mother or father is.

There's no such thing as being "half-American".

Either someone is a US citizen, or has rights to be a US citizen, or they don't.

If the child was born in the US, the child has the rights to be a US citizen under the 14th Amendment.

If the child was not born in the US, then the child can apply for a visa and apply for citizenship following the normal rules.
