My husband and I are looking to go back this year. We were there last April. Is there a better time to go than March or January?

I'd recommend March. January, if things are normal, can be a wet month and somewhat cold for the desert. Both months do have ethnic parades in downtown Las Vegas (Martin Luther King Day in January and St. Patrick's Day in March).
March is also big for sports betting on the NCAA basketball finals. But, to me, March is the month when we emerge out of winter and head towards my favorite time of the year here (Spring).

I think March would be a better time to visit Las Vegas.

Mid January is fairly cheap to stay. But its cool and the pools are not open. Mid March may be slightly higher in price because of March Madness. It is warmer and I was able to sunbathe at the MGM. Their pool is heated and people were swimming but not me!

What is your main priority for the trip...price, the temperature, or something else?

The best value buffets are not on the strip.
The strip is for tourists that don't have transportation to get off the strip, and are a captive audience for the overpriced meals. Way overpriced IMO.

Locals eat off the strip.

Try the Orleans, Silverton and Main Street Station (Downtown) for great value buffets, AND you can get 2 for 1 coupons for the buffets by oredering a book called
AMERICAN CASINO GUIDE 2007 Edition. (Author Steve Bourie) Available on Amazon, eBay etc. Coupons good until Dec '07, also good for some shows and a few casino bets.

You need to go downtown and get the FREMONT STREET EXPERIENCEfun book coupons for a Main St 2 for 1
It's well worth the cost of the book if you are going to LV for 3 or 4 days or more. LOADS of great coupons in this book.

Silverton Lunch Buffet is $9.95 and 2 for 1 in the book, amazing meal for 2 for $10 !!
Others are $15 max, but 2 for1's are in the book.

You need a car to get off the strip for Silverton or Orleans, but you can take a bus downtown for Main Street Stn.

The book is WELL worth the cost if you are there for a few days with a car. Have Fun !

The weather is better in March, much better by the end of the month. The average high temperature by the end of March is above 70, in January it's barely above 60.

March because the weather is mild. January is too cold and the prices are more expensive due to the New Year and King's Holidays.

The Luxor opens it outdoor pools in the Winter and their are people swimming in them. Brrrr.

March
Jan is SuperBowl and this town is crazy.
They hype prices for the event.
March no real events.
Some baseketball, but not the football crowd.
