We have a large capacity washer where I work. (Speed Queen) When it was on the spin cycle this weekend the sheets exploded through the glass. It completely shattered and scattered the viewing window. It blew screws out of the front panel and into the wall. Has anyone ever heard of this happening before? Does anyone have any theories as to how this occurred? Should Ralph Nader write a new book..."Unsafe on Any Cycle."

Thanks in advance.

Also...it's 4 months old. It's the kind you'd find in laudromats and hotels. It's powered by electric, not gas.

seems likely that the window itself was loose in its mounting, and the vibration caused by the dryer plus the pounding from the wet sheets and the fact that the glass was loose and it started rotating in its groove(something that should not happen.)caused the loose glass to shatter(vibrating in and out,up and down, and rotating around--every which way but loose - but oh, it was loose) Glass does not flex 1 iota.

Yeah, even the drum dislodging would not produce the force necessary to blow out screws and propel them into the wall. We are talking explosion here.

Sounds like there was a flammable gas or liquid in the dryer.
