i got mine when i was 9 i am now 22 gosh i have been dealing with this monthly annoying thing for so long :)

It is very common these days. They say it has something to do with all the hormones that animals are pumped with these days. It makes children develop faster. That is what I heard but even with out that I believe the normal age range is 10-15 years old for a girl to start their period.

I read in The Care And Keeping of You, which is an american girl book, that periods can start anywhere from 9 to 15.

Yes, I've heard of a 10 year old girl having her period. I've met women that started their first periods at age 9.

I have heard of it! In fact I have a cousin that got her period at 9 years old and my sister got hers when she was about 10. It's not uncommon, just a little shocking when it happens so early!

Yes, I was 10 when I got my first one.
It is caused by eating animal products that full of hormones that interfere with human hormones. Milk, eggs and meat - are all contaminated with hormones that are given to animals to speed their growth for slaughter.
A hundred years ago most girls started their periods at 16 because farm animals were not fed these hormones.
Hormones in our food is robbing girls of their childhoods.

Yes, it is possible. Race has something to do with the earliness of getting your period. In african americans the tendancy is start them very early even as early as 9 years old. In the asian cultures, especially the japanese, chinese and thai women it is common to not get them until 14 and sometimes as late as 16 years old.

Actually girls can start anywhere from 9-16 years old. Most start later though, about 12 or 13.
