When I stay with my mom (live out of town) I usually knock first since we get in kinda late but after that I usually just walk right in

Always ring the doorbell - I've already had to drive a thousand miles to get there and if I just barged in they would have no idea what's going on. Besides, it's not only beyond rude to enter someone's home unannounced/uninvited, it might just get you shot if you're really unlucky.
