We're thinking of buying an after market seat - and would like to know if a gel seat is a good option. It's expensive and we want to make sure it's a good purchase. Thanks!

I've had a gel saddle and it provided a very comfortable ride. The only issue I had with the seat was that when the temperature was cold and , if the bike had been sitting outside for a long period of time, the gell got cold and took a long time to warm up, which can be uncomfortable, On the other hand, the opposite is also true, if the seat is warm and the temperature drops, the gel will stay warm longer, if the seat gets wet because of the condensation, the part where the gel is will stay dry. Also, the gel only covers part of the seat and you wind up with 2 different densities on your seat

The next bike I bought, I bought a Mustang seat, for my money, it is a much better investment and provides a much better ride, and after a couple hundred miles, it will take the shape or your rear end and you' ll think you' re sitting on a couch

Had one on a Yamaha Venture. Very comfortable, especially on long trips. I tried the gel pads, and they work OK, as long as you can keep them in place. Mine tended to move about 3/4 of an inch too far back, no matter how I tried to secure it. Just moved enough to make me sit right on the edge seam. Next bike, I'll pony up the bucks for the proper seat. Worth every penny.

No, I don't. I have 3" springs under a police style solo. On a sprung bike. Just my choice, that's all. I hear good things about seats that have them factory installed. I've also gotten good reports from people who had their original seat modified with gel inserts. I have not heard much good about the pads that go on top. It seems they don't fit right, or shift.

I had it built into my seat; BIG difference, much better ride, you'll like it, trust me. You can also try the gel pad; dealers usually had one so you can lay it on your seat to get an idea & feel.
