I think you should just tell her you want to talk to her, and just tell her. It's nothing she could get mad at you for. It might even give you two an opportunity to be open and talk.

I understand how this may be difficult or even embarrassing, but your mom will want to know. All you need to do is to ask to speak to her in private, and tell her you started your period while she was gone on vacation. If you have questions regarding your period, this would be a good time to talk to her. Who knows, maybe this will help you both open up and become closer. Good luck.

I know this can be embarrassing, but she's got to be expecting it to come sometime. Wait for a time when she's in a good mood, and when you're alone. Then just say, "Uh, Mom, I need to tell you something. I got my period while you were gone."

Every girl goes though a period. i know it is embarrassing at first but it's a step in life and your mom isn't going to care that you started. She can help you if you have any questions. Don't be nervous to talk to her she has gone through it too.

Tell her you'd like to have a girls night out, just you and her. get some pizza and go to the movies. on the way home it'll probably be dark and she'll be looking at the road. Easier to talk about if she's not looking at you. Also temporarily deflects the "oh my baby's a woman" hug that she'll definately want to give you.

if you're not open with her, why bother telling?

Next time you go to the store, throw a box of tampons (or pads, if that's your thing) into the cart... That should initiate a conversation

Yah, I was kinda nervous when I got mine too.

And after, she told my dad! Which made me really mad and embarrassed!

Maybe, when your at the store..ask her if you could get some pads. Then she should probably figure out.
