Is Impeaching BUSH THE RIGHT THING TO DO???

Question

Reasons:
1. Illegal wire taping
2. illegal detainment of US citizens without proper and timely due process.
3. lying for the lead up to the war.

I am sure that we can think of many other things, but the reasons listed are my concerns.

The MOVEMENTS TO IMPEACH SEEM TO FALL SHORT OF GOALS:
1. Dennis Kucinnich introduced articles and it was ignored.
2. John Conyors, Barbara Boxer, Republican Chuck Hagel explored these issues publically.
3. Seven states considered resolutions and Vermont passed a resolution but all have fallen short of gaining serious national attention.

Zogby poll says that 53% of Americans will support impeachment. (This includes dems and conservs).

Now that it is election time Bush's own party has parted ways with him b/c he hasn't given them a good record to run on!

(( This president seems to be above the law and above criticism!))

When are we going to be about the business of doing this and stop giving this lip service???

The whole issue about impeachment has become a big joke.

There's a local expression, " s%%% or get off the pot." The dems can't seem to figure out to do either.

NO!!!
If we impeach Bush, then Cheney becomes president. He stretches executive power even more than Bush does, and he seems to like these "undisclosed locations" a lot more.
It takes a long time to impeach a president (and even longer to impeach two, because that would become necessary once Cheney became president,) and that would be a waste of time that could be spent by the democrats beginning to undo the harm done by Bush.

Convicting (or acquitting) Bush based on a legal trial, and based purely on whether Bush violated federal laws, would be a good thing to do.

But that's not going to happen. The matter is so polarized and so political, that law and fact have nothing to do with the outcome.

Which means we've already lost the rule of law.

And #3 is not a crime. Please read the laws in question.
#1 (violation of 18 USC 2511) and #2 (violation of 18 USC 2441) are easily proven, because Bush has publicly admitted them. And the latter has already be confirmed by the US Supreme Court.

So, it's not a matter of law. It's purely a matter of politics.

he's almost done with his term of office. it would take that long to impeach him.
