My mother is 52 and recently lost her husband this past January. he was her only means of support for over 30 years. She never even learned to drive. She now only has $51 a month to live on. I have paid her rent and deposit for her but that is all I can do. Now she is behind on her bills and rent. Where can I find help or get donations to help her? She has no one else to turn to and I have a family of my own to care for. I have done all that I can as far as my own finaces go. Please someone tell me where to get help.

Have her go to the medicaid office and apply for help, it will depend on her assets and income. I'm going to assume that you are in the US? Look into applying for food stamps. She is going to spend time in various government offices. Have her check to see if she qualifies for any benefits under her husband's SSI benefits, go the the Social security office.
She might qualify for welfare or even HUD housing.

Does she have any job skills? She might need to look for work. 52 is still a young woman.

Contact the local Human Services. They have all the information. Today I called our local one and found out the church that is helping families with school supplies. It's their job to know how to help people around the community

what you need to do is find out if she can recieve any Social Security Benefits. If not then there are many charity organizations that might help, such as Saint Vincent Depaul, or the Salvation Army; you can also go to your local Dept. of Economic Security.

First report to Social Security Administration of his passing and she should be able to receive a widows pension. Also go Dept of Social Services and see where they can help as well. If he had any type of life insurance policies call on those.

Hope this helps.

She should be able to draw social security on her husbands death. In the meantime, call local churches for help. Also, call you local dept. of human services and she should qualify for living assistance as well as food stamps and medicaid.
