Im thinking of going to Saint Rose in albany, i live near boston and i now how great of a college city Boston is. I get the feeling that Albany is pretty dull for a college student. Is there nightlife, like clubs, not just bars but clubs like in Boston. Are there a lot of concerts. Is it a nice city or more run down, with some movie theaters and a few resturants? I also am not that big of a winter person and im guessing its pretty bad in the winter, will i absolutly hate it there or do you think there is enought to keep me occupied since Saint rose isnt that big of a school?

also anything you can tell me about the city would be great.

All right, Albany is not going to be Boston. Few places are. Albany is a much smaller city, and you'd be there from September to May, when Albany is not at its best.

Does it get cold? Yes, but it's roughly the same as Boston. There might be a bit more snow most years, but Boston isn't immune from that either.

Albany is rather recession-proof because of the state government, so there's plenty of economic activity. There is a good arena downtown, so some good concerts pass through. Don't expect The Police to come through, but you'll get some good shows there. I'm sure you can find some activities there.

Albany is a manageable city in terms of gettting around, but it does have some advantages. You can find a good book store and some live music. Compare that to, say, Colgate, in Hamilton, NY. You'd have to drive an hour to get to a Wal-Mart.

So if the school fits, I wouldn't be scared off by the town. I went to Syracuse, and it was fine in a lot of the ways mentioned above.
