3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Essence of hawthorne - but be very very careful with it - I wouldn't take it in combination with conventional medicine. I'm not recommending it, just answering your question for a natural cure. When I tried it, I just about keeled over - far stronger than my pills. Am assuming you're in USA, as normal limit for concern in the UK is 160 not 140 and, as you are normally on medicine for life once you start treating high blood pressure, UK docs try to leave it as long as possible before putting you on medicine. I wouldn't have thought 140/80 was a huge problem - depends on your age/weight, perhaps.

You need a diet that is high in the right kind of fibre and rich in potassium, magnesium, calcium, and the antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E. You also need to be eating oily fish at least twice a week to provide the important artery-protecting omega fatty acids your body cannot make but must glean from your diet. Try to eat a tablespoon of unsalted nuts and seeds and keep to a low fat, low sugar, and low salt diet, (less than 5g a day), eating as much organic fruit and veg as you can. (Aim for five portions a day; eight is even better.) The B vitamins are also important in protecting the heart - up to 40% of patients with heart disease are deficient in folic acid (B8) and vitamins B6 or B12. These can be found in foods such as green leafy vegetables, brown rice, tuna, organic dairy products, salmon, wholegrain flour, lentils, soy, oysters (when you feel like a treat), root vegetables, kidney beans, carrots, avocados, sunflower seeds, and fish.

That BP is very good, I had my annual check last week and mine is 144/83 and the Dr is very pleased with that. Keep taking your tablets they are important.

Try walking every day I get my exercise every day by walking to and from work takes about 45 mins at an even pace over a very large bridge which you are glad to get to the top of!!

I find taking just ten minutes out to sit quietly each day helps make sure you are alone no background noise and relax each part of your body slowly, feels wonderful.

Fresh fruits, less salt and chicken and fish have done it for me and we grill everything no fried stuff anymore.

Maybe you need some changes in your lifestyle...by eating healthy balanced diet (fruit&nuts, vegetables, meat&fish and water), having a good walk or some easy exercise daily + enough sleep too!

Also taking your medication regularly it`s important!

+ try Reflexology treatments...it could help bring balance back to you body, spirit and mind!

All the best!

Watch the salt. Cut it out totally if you can do so.

Take potassium after getting an okay from your doctor. Excess potassium can be harmful if your kidneys aren't healthy.

Exercise more often. Cut any excess weight. Don't smoke or consume alchohol.

Eat a banana. Bananas lower blood pressure instantly. Also get more exercise, cut back or eliminate salt, and lose weight.

Reducing your intake of table salt (sodium), alcohol and caffeine would help a bit.

Vitamin E together with selenium heps a bit.

Vitamin C together with lysine helps a bit.

Calcium, magnesium, fish oil, Coenzyme Q10, hawthorn, coleus and garlic (preferably odourless garlic) all help a bit as well.

Plenty of exercise also helps a lot.

Unfortunately there is no single natural cure for high blood pressure and you have to resort to several in combination.
