There are two ways to look at it. Yes, they are scoring high in runs because Tampa Bay's and Kansas City's pitching is awful, but they also are scoring because guys like Cano, Matsui, and Abreu are hitting now.
Also, the best thing that has happened to the Yankees this season was Jason Giambi going down with a foot injury. Having him out lets Damon DH, and allows Cabrera to play CF. Giambi was a strikeout/flyball machine who just took up space in the batting order. The Yankees are a better team without him, and it's going to suck when he comes back.
I don't know if I'd be too scared though. The Yankees are still pretty far back, and it's going to be hard for them to make the playoffs. Still, the hitting is fun to watch.
And I don't even want to hear Red Sox fans whining about the Yankees schedule. They play the same teams the Yankees do over the course of the season. Maybe that's why their record is great.

The problem is, Yankees fans expect the Yankees to win it all every time and are spoiled by the success the teams record indicates. The fact is, any team who is having a good year and all the players are up to their potential can win the whole shooting match. The New York Yankees have always been a great ball club with talent, managing, insight and tradition. Being the Yankees doesn't automatically mean you win though. The other teams are professional ball players and will beat you if you don't play your best. The Yankees have had sour seasons where they've been dismal contenders. It happens to all teams. Some more than others because they don't have the money or the market to get the great players. I'm a Red Sox fan myself but I don't live my life around it. I also don't get into the Yankees s**k mentality because I know that is not the truth! Win or lose, I love the Red Sox and I love the excellent competition the Yankees bring to the league. So it can be said, I do not hate or fear the Yankees, but respect and admire the team as a great competitor and a worthy adversary.

The yankees are finally playing like a team 10 and 3 since the all star break, Yes they are 7 1/2 games behind but the indians have been known to crack and lose games. As for the red sox if the yankees keep it up i expect to see it go down in the last game of the season.

Everything is going well for the Yankees.
The Yankees have three more games at KC, and Boston and Cleveland are playing eachother right now so if the Yankees get another win toninght and Boston or Cleveland wins, then the Yankees gain some ground.

Well part of it is lousy teams but the yankees are definately playing much better than they were before. The game they scored 20 runs or something was against shields who has been pretty good this year the yankees scored 10 runs against him.

You must be a "newbie" Yankee fan! I'm an "oldie" (but Goodie :) ), but I've seen this happen to them MANY times over the years. Remember- they had a LOUSY run of luck earlier in the Season, & THAT stretch wasn't indicative of how "good" they were- either. They're just on a "hot streak"- and are BOUND to "cool off" alittle next month... You'll see.

Doesn't matter. If you have a record like they do after the all star break, you're screwed. They wont make the playoffs in a crownded American League.
