(3x+2)-2=(x+10)-2
3x=x+8
(3x)-x=(x+8)-x
2x=8
2x/2=8/2
x=4

1. Get the "like terms" on the same side
2x = 8

2. Divide each side by whatever NUMBER x is:
2x = 8
2x/2 = 8/2

3. Answer is x = 4

well you take the x on the right and subtract it from both sides.
3x-x+2=x-x+10
which equals
2x+2=10
its easy from here on. just take the two and subtract it from both sides, like this.
2x+2-2=10-2
which of course equals
2x=8
then you just divide both sides by two
2x/2=8/2
(/ mean divide)
which comes out to be
1x (which is the same way of saying "x") =4
and theres your answer!
HAHA was this for your homework or something?
