I honestly believe that our presence in Iraq was inevitable...just that the timing was wrong. After 9/11, the entire country wanted to see justice served to those who so cowardly attacked us. Osama took the credit for the deaths, but I don't believe that the attacks were aimed specifically at all Americans but instead at our government who had abandoned the Afghanistan "Freedom Fighters" (as Reagan called them) after the battle with Russia. Had we provided the funds and support for Afghanistan after their long battle with Russia, there would never have been a 9/11. At the same time, the military force that we have in Iraq should have first been applied to the war in Afghanistan and brought a complete stability to that region before we dealt with Saddam. If Al Qaeda was intent on thier cause, they would have brought the war to Afghanistan and joined with the Taliban....if their goal was to defeat the idea of Western culture over Islam. By going into Iraq, we spread our forces much broader and allowed them to 'surround' us in Libya, Syria and Iran....and Saudi Arabia is not innocent in this either. But there would have been a single battleground - Afghanistan - and I believe that we would have much more control of the situation than we do now. As far as Saddam Hussein is concerned, he would have dug his own grave.

All things considered, it is no longer a question of wether we were right or wrong.......what matters now is that we must finish the process that we started. The current Iraqi government is useless and will never have the respect of the people of Iraq because they are seen as puppets of the West. You will eventually see a religious leader who will bring the different factions of Iraq together to form a government truly representative of the people with no ties to the West.

I wonder what you would say if there was another terrorist attack in the US? One as big as 9/11. I would hate to see it happen and we have prevented many from coming to fruition, but what if another attack happened on our soil? Yes Sadam Hussien had control over the people of Iraq, using an Iron Hand. Realize that many people in that country have only known violence, not from the US, but from Sadam Hussien. Now you want the military to leave Iraq and let the strongest cleric or clan rule the country. How much bloodshed will happen when the military leaves? Do you honestly think that when the US army leaves everybody will get along?

Thank you for letting me state my thoughts.

I came to the fact what Iraq establishes is only money and oil
the united states government has always dealt ed with Saddam
cause what we had offered him but when he refused to do what we wanted him to do we turned on him it was accused that we help him with Iran during the eighty's ...but the United States government will tell no involvement they will only tell you why we went in there cause he has w.m.d.s it was all a reason of getting in there cause the u.s. government knew what he had. I only picked up what I had read online I am not at liberty to say more cause some information may come out what others don't like to hear" of the truth why we came into Iraq. another one was to change it we will always occupy Iraq 4yrs2come like Rome ruled over Israel when Christ Walked the earth

I think we all realize that we were wrong for going into Iraq. We allowed the emotion from 9/11 and the fear tactics spread by our President to convince us to sit back and allow this invasion.

Even the most staunch Bush supporters must know they were wrong. We have taken a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, and had no WMD, and literally destroyed it. We manipulated the grisly hanging death of their dictator, were behind-the-scenes managers of a sham election, put into power legislators from one fundamentalist Islamic power with its hatred of Americans and its subversive attitude toward women, and stirred up a civil war.

Now, the same President makes speeches repeating the words "Al Queda" ninety-five times in one episode. Yet others, generals like Murpha, and war reporters like Michael Ware, say that Al Queda is a minute portion of the "enemy" in Iraq, about 5 percent. Fear Tactics again!

Unfortunately, I have come to the conclusion, you can't believe a word some people say. We were wrong, dead wrong, for going into Iraq. We listened to the wrong George Bush.

Of course you won't because if you did you would go insane at the magnitude of your atrocity.

The very fact that you have to ask the question proves my point.

What sane moral person especially a Christiam (but not necessarily only Christians) would not realize IMMEDIATELY that an ILLEGAL war of choice based on a pack of filthy lies that has so far resulted in the slaughter of over 400,000 INNOCENT Iraqi civilians was the WRONG thing to do.

You would have to be a morallly bankrupt leper to not realize this immediately.

Are you lot so morally/ethically crippled that you have to ask this question??

Yes, just like any of the so-called wars.

The U.S. government is so corrupt and our founding fathers are rolling in their graves.

They didn't resist the British for our government to become terrorists!

The government lied to us about the Iraq just like the Vietnam War.

Google the Pentagon Papers or go on Mike Gravel's site.

Most of us have, except for Bush. The ones who refuse to call for a full withdrawal are only enabling this quagmire and allowing it to continue.

Vote for Ron Paul, the only candidate who genuinely wants to withdraw our soldiers from the meatgrinder that is Iraq. He is the only one who will employ policies of responsible spending and he will heal the county, which is very sick at the moment.

Washington needs a DOCTOR, not a Lawyer.
