I strongly think Obama is smart, the way he answered this question.

Well Hillary is shrewed, she will get her machine going and spin this for a few weeks, and build a fence between her and Obama over something this trite to use to her political advantage without having to deal with real issues and differences.

I don't see why they have to spin this all stupid.

If you engage them, you can have influence over them....

There is a big difference between pandering and talking.

We talked the USSR to death. Imagine if during the cold war we just said we are not going to have any contact with Moscow?

We fight with psyops and civil affairs just as much as infantry

Know your enemy, and use them.

The reason we are not winning the perseption war out there is because we don't. If I was president damn right I would call all those tin pot shumks into my office, stick a tv camera in their face and let the world really see what they are all about, because we are letting them do all the talking now...and that is not a good idea

This is the kind of things people don't get for some reason.
It is not like Obama was saying he wants to have tea parties with them.. ..but they have to spin things stupid

I saw the debate, and Clinton's answer on this question was flat out better. Obama promised to meet with the leaders of those countries. Clinton said she didn't want herself and the USA to be used as propaganda. Clinton also said something along the lines of there needed to be some sort of arrangements on diplomacy before meeting as well, whereas, Obama just promised to meet.

Hillary is correct. I'm a Conservative and Obama didn't do well with that question. Hillary countered and appeared smart capable whilst making Obama look naive for his previous comment. As a lifetime politician he should have known better and seen that coming. I still prefer him over her anyday. Though he is not as polished as Hillary I trust him to do what he will say he will rather than her.

It looks like he tagged her pretty well with that exchange. Equating her stance with something Bush would do, dovetails with one of the early themes he struck and that was with a Clinton win in 08 that between the Bush family and the Clintons we would have ceded control of the country to two families for almost a quarter century. And that too long to go without new ideas

She was correct. Talking with leaders like Iran when they speak openly about wanting to demolish America will not accomplish anything and will make things worse.

Definitely no love lost between those two. Typical politics, though.
