If he walked out on you, walk your butt into the HR office and drop him from your insurance! You date whenever you fell like it right for you!

I don't think you have to be too concerned about a time frame. When you are comfortable start dating. However, I do not understand why you would not get a divorce. Are you going to stay married indefinitely and put your life on hold so he can have insurance? I think you could get divorced and write something into the agreement that you will provide insurance for some period of time to allow him to get his own. I am not sure about that, you might want to check the laws in your state or check with a lawyer. By staying married you are still holding on in some manner.

NEVER, without a legal divorce you are still married, if you start dating you will be committing adultery. As long as you are legally married there is no time frame of dating. Besides what man who had any self respect would want to date a married woman? Yes I can see a man who didn't care about whoring himself for some woman but no self respecting man would.
Besides you CAN leave him on your medical insurance in a divorce. I was on my ex's insurance for two years after our divorce until I could afford to get my own. It simply has to be written into the divorce contract.

There's not really a time frame, just as long as the other partner is ok with it. When it's right for you.
