There's not really an answer to your question as you posed it, since we don't know what you want to do with it or what you value most in a laptop. Good night!

In my opinion, Thinkpads are the best laptops. I own a Dell XPS M1210, Sony Vaio, Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet, a Compaq and a Toshiba.
Out of all these laptops, I think the best built for its features is the Thinkpad. They also have good warranty and good customer service (on what I've experienced). My thinkpad has an "airbag like protection" for my hard drive -- It sense shock and stops the hard drive, so it doesn't do any damage to it.
If you're not sold on Thinkpad's rather dull design, I think Sony would be my second pick. It may be expensive, but it has a really great screen, and doesn't overheat as much as Dell.
Note that my laptops are all about the same age -- within 2 weeks to 5 months old.
--Also, if you want the best usable laptop, look for tablets. They have good functionality, but a little expensive.

Impossible question to answer without knowing your needs. You should write a list of what you want in a laptop and how much you are prepared to spend and then take this to a reputable computer dealer.
Anyone answering your stated question will give a biased response based on their own needs, not yours.
