Where does Mark Teixeira fit into the Red Sox plans? According the MLB.com, The Red Sox are frontrunners to get Rangers 1B Mark Teixeira shown here: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070724&content_id=2105789&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb

I am wondering, where would Teixeira fit in to the Red Sox plan.

They are not moving Kevin Youkillis, Mike Lowell is doing very good, and Youk doesn't like it at 3rd. Teixeira is can only play 1B, 3B, and OF. And the sox are not moving any outfielders, and if not lowell and youk, where is Teixeira going to fit in.

The sox will trade prospects from the minors, maybe Kason Gabbard, but will the sox move Lowell? Move Manny? Move Crisp? Move Drew?

What are they going to do.

Someone tell me, where you think Teixeira fits in.

Serious answers only please.

He can't play 3B or OF, only 1B and DH.

Which means if the BoSox get him, he plays first, Youks moves to 3B, and Lowell rides pine.

If they trade for him, Lowell will be the odd man out. I don't see him fitting into the Red Sox plans. He's solid, but, old.

Youk may not like 3rd, but, I think that's where he'll be. Tex is at first... I can't see a man that big at 3rd or outfield. You want his stick.

No way i Trade Gabbard. I saw him pitch against the royals and he has some nice stuff. You don't get alot of lefties with that kinds of stuff. Froze alot of the Royals.

Drew is the odd man too. he's not a lead off hitter. I'm really surprised they don't put crisp there. He's fast and that's what you want in a lead off hitter.

If Manny pulls his standard bull, he may be gone. His numbers are down and he's the biggest liability in the outfield.

Its a coin toss, but, if they pull it off, its will be nice. I could see Lowell being traded to the rangers since they lost Blalock, but, that's a whole other thing\

I think its a really a move looking towards next year where they'll let either Lowell or Manny go. And for this year Lowell will be the odd man out. If they get him, it will be the move that will be the downfall of the Sox. It will screw up the chemistry they have. It might be one of those moves just to keep him away from the Yankees.

I have no idea with Youkilis and Lowell...Actually, I'm hoping they keep Gabbard...He has been pretty strong...I think maybe he should take Wakefield's spot in the rotation...If they have Schilling, Dice K, Beckett, and Lester...and then add Gabbard, that could be the best rotation in baseball...

To answer your question, I hope they don't do something stupid like trade Manny...He's the second biggest bat behind David obviously...I could possibly see them moving Crisp or Drew...although they are contributors too...but Crisp and Drew would go before Manny...Thats what I think anyway...
