It actually used to be believed that bullies suffered from low self-esteem and thus resorted to bullying to build up their own confidence. However, it has actually been shown that bullies tend to actually have very high self-esteem and bully others in order to reinforce their already high sense of self-worth. If anything, I wonder if CONSISTENT discipline would do much to curb their behavior.

ignore them.there will always be a bigger bully than the next.it just goes on and on.no matter who or what they are,down to the facts,it's a deep embedded insecurity.
in a child,at an early age,one should attempt to direct that energy into something positive.teach the child to give praise to others,in some way.even the act of teaching a child to say thank you,instills in her or him,the act of respect.
