Yeah, I think people hit the question button instead of page thru already asked questions. I know what you mean. How is it, there are some questions that get hundreds of answers, and I can't get more than 20? I like that a question is posted for 3 days, just because I don't check the site over the weekend. So, I need a couple of days to catch up.

People mainly watch the new questions as they are listed and then respond to the ones that they have something to say about. The 3 day thing is how Yahoo set it up thinking that people would use topics and look up older questions on subjects that interest them. Thing is, some people do that, but very few. So you get most your answers in the first few minutes.

Yahoo Q/A is not as popular in other languages as English. I've tried it in French and most of the time there are no more than 8 people who answer on the first day.

Also, if you have friends or contact groups who like to answer your questions it gives them a chance to come answer your questions without having to check each day.

Am I the exception to the rule then? I love looking at old pages rather than the newer ones for interesting questions! How does it happen that you can spend all day on here yet the most interesting questions turn up as soon as you either log off, or, go to the loo!

It's because your question is only on the front page for a few minutes and most people just keep refreshing the first page all the time and never see the questions that have 'dropped off' the bottom.

It is because you get more readily noticed when you first submit your question.
The question pages are in real-time, for the most part.
Once it leaves the first couple of pages, the answering slows waaayyy down, because it is not seen much then.
Some will go back through the question pages & some will search subject material to answer questions that way.

Also, your contacts will have a chance to answer the question, if it is open a day or two.
My ?'s are always resolved by me within one day.

generally it happens if you ask questions like this. But ocassionally when you have a real question about something specific or that few people wont know much about it can sometimes take a few days before someone with an answer comes across the question

I think that happens to everyone. If you have fans and contacts, the 3 days gives them a chance to catch up with your questions. I always have a few answers dribble in later.

Because we all click on the questions towards the top of the list and depending on how many people are on the site, asking questions, will depend how long it takes to go further down the list and therefore, out of sight out of mind - unless of course people are looking in a specific category.

Yes. It's because the questions just asked appear on the front page, those are the ones that get answered. Once they're off, no one really looks at them.
