This is my 2nd pregnancy, and I am only 4 1/2 weeks pregnant. When I get up after lying down, especially first thing in the morning, I feel a pain in my lower abdomen. It can be on either side, and it's a sharp pain. It's only after getting up. I don't remember if this happened with my first pregnancy. My husband thinks I did compain of this with my last pregnancy. Have any of you experienced this?

i'm sure this is what you call your muscles and ligaments stretching to support your growing ur uterus...which is normal. As long as the pain is not severe or unbearable and accompany by bleeding n spotting then things should be fine.

Round ligament pain is what my Dr. diagnosed me with when I had these same symptoms. It could be anywhere from a nagging pain to a "put you on the floor" pain. It was very scary but completely normal. The downside is that because you feel this pain with the ligaments stretching, it is likely that you will have pain after the baby is born when the ligaments are contraxting back to their normal length.
