Calm down, shes only asking, no need to be dickheads about it.

The government doesnt fund any charity, hence the name, they rely on ordinary people to raise money for them

I'm not entirely sure about this but don't the Government aid charities through tax relief?

If I sign up to a new animal charity and agree to pay a fixed amount regularly, there's a form to fill out that allows the charity to reclaim the taxable portion of my donation. that gives them x% more than if I do not complete the form.

So, in a way, they are funding animal charities.

If the RSPCA can afford tv adverts, they are not short of money. I work for a charity for vulnerable people and we don't get any Government funding either! However, we certainly couldn't afford an advert on tele.

Government can't give money to charities, there just isn't a mechanism for them to do so unless Congress were to go out of their way to appropriate money for one, which I'm sure laws prohibit anyway. Charities and foundations and so forth fall under legal umbrellas that have to do with the way they are funded and taxed etc, so it probably isn't even possible.

I understand people's love for animals, but the government should not fund those causes over human ones.

Government shouldn't pay money to any charities. I don't care if its curing cancer or stem cells. Explain how giving money to charities is protecting my life, liberty or property (only justification for govt. by Locke (which is what Jefferson based the Declaration of Independence on)). I think individual citizens should be the one giving money. Lets suppose the govt. squanders our money on a corrupt charity. What now? I think individuals would be better off choosing.

The government does spend a lot of money on Animals. I think you should see a sick child on dialysis waiting for kidney before you donate your money to an animal charity. Wait. Are you one of those people that do not donate or spend any money on a cause but wish others would spend money on your sad guilty emotional make me feel better with your money scam. Go pay your taxes.

Those who want to support animal charities can. Don't spend my taxes on them. I donate to people charities. They are more important than animals. Give to the NSPCC and make a difference to a child.

Maybe because they don´t even have enough funding PEOPLE, who need it. Like in New Orleans when PEOPLE needed help, animals were being rescued by animal charities and whales were being saved by sea world, but there were still PEOPLE who need help. So to answer question: PEOPLE are more important than animals! So why aren´t there enough charities for the people who need them?

Charities do not get funding from the government. Charities also pay -zilch- income taxes.
