I've seen them ranked anywhere from #1 to #5 by a variety of experts. I think the #5 might be a closer bet. As a head coach Norv has yet to produce a winning team, and he has had some talented teams. I won't believe he can until he does it.

I am not sure why last time we all saw the LBOTZ they were crying about being embarrassed by losing a playoff game at home! What is with you Lighting Boltz to much of that good ole Marty Kool Aide? Be for real what makes you think Nov Turner will be any better? He sure had a proven track record with the Redskins and the Faiders. Look its not 1963 and Sid Gillman is not standing on the side lines. When You win a playoff game at home come back and then talk your smack. Right you and the Houston Texan have the same thing in common you both watched the Super from your couch. With Norv if you 9-7 he should be coach of the year don't Lights out Merriman will pop on a roides test and LT will be crying on TV again soon enough.

I am shocked that both guys gave the nod to them over New England, but San Diego lost less of their players than most other teams. That said, you have to enter in the "Norv Turner factor." Can he win in the playoffs? History says no, but he has a really good team this time. We will see in January.

Please, what has Phillip Rivers proved? That having an amazing RB really helps take the pressure off of having to put the game on his arm. Shocking.

Cheers.

the dude is right if chargers even go 9-7, norve should win the coach of the yr award. hahahha
come on. get real! dont expect norve to be able to win against colts, pat. bears, ravens. look at wat he did to the other two teams he coached as head coach. the redskins, who r getting a little better, then the norve era, and the raiders, who were once one of the dominant teams in the nfl, became one of the losing teams during and after norves coaching. the raiders might get a little better this yr too. but one thing is for sure, they wont be the team they were last yr. so look for the chargers to go down the barrel as well. maybe not this yr, but if norve remains as their coahc for the next yr, that sure is gonna happen.

Because they were the best last season. LT is the best RB since Barry Sanders. Their defense is punishing and paralysing. Phillip Rivers is a capable QB. Antonio Gates is a great TE. The receivers are good, albeit not great. They are definitely one of the top contenders in the AFC.

there are a few reasons why. 1st of all they hav LT- he can do evrything, run pass catch they hav the best TE in Gates and they have a QB in Rivers who should hav a breakout season they also hav a tough defense led by the sack leader Shawne Merriman. they also hav sum young WR's that should do great including an expected career yr 4 Vincent Jackson

Still have core players.

1. Phillip rivers--- He proved he's the man
2. LT-----Nuff said right there...
3. Gates: If not the best TE, he's no.2 behind Gonzo
4. Defense: Mean nasty defense
5. Michael Turner:
6. Nick Kaeding: a kicker that can win you games

On the other side.

1. Wide Receivers: They don't have much and what they do have is old. That's where they will be hurting.

I see LT getting the stuffings run outta him. If I'm a team, I'm keying on the running game and specifically LT. Blitzes will make them keep LT in the backfield to protect.

Its either going to be feast or famine.

Because they have a top notch defense, the best RB in the game, a QB ready to break out, the best TE in the league and a receiving core that is young and capable

They have the greatest running back currently in the NFL who will break Emmitt Smith's record of most rushing yards in about 4 or 5 years.

the reason being LT and they got a pretty good defense 1 in sacks but people have forgot about the patriots, saints, eagles and the colts they lost in the playoffs because LT got stopped and phillip rivers could not complete a pass
