What is grade or grading gold mean?

I'm buying this gold nugget card on ebay. All of them said for grading gold I have to pay extra. What grading gold mean?

My guess is they are talking about assaying the gold nugget (checking it for purity). Obviously, a nugget that is 100% gold is worth more than a nugget that is 90% or less gold.
