Hi there,

Here is a step by step explanation of this Problem.

This kind of mathematical explanation is known as a Simple Equation.

Why is it simple? Because the value on one side of the Equation must equal the Value of the other side.

Therefore:
y + 7 = 19

where y is an unknown number that must balance the equation.

In other words, what number should you add to 7 to make it = 19.

To find the answer, you must subtract 7 from both sides of the equation, thus you get

y + 7 - 7 = 19 -7

(Whatever you do to one side of the equation, you must also do to the other side).

7 - 7 = 0

So your equation becomes:

y = 19 - 7

Therefore y = 12

So replacing y with the value 12 in the original equation, you get:

12 + 7 = 19

19 = 19

Hope this helps you.

Ok so Y is the unknown number so ___ +7=19 to solve a problem like this you take the answer (19) Minus the known number (7) so 19-7=12 so Y=12

Math isn't my strongest subject but if this is what I think it is...
y+7=19
In all equations, you want to solve for the variable. So, you want to isolate the Y by moving the 7 to the other side. You do this by subtracting 7 from each side because what you do to one side must be done to the other.
Therefore, the answer would be y=12.

1) y+7=19
2) subtract 7 from both side of the equation
y+7-7=19-7
3) y=12

you have to get the y alone so
1) y+7=19 subtract 7 from both
-7 = -7 sides

the 7s cancel out and then you have to subtract 7 from 19
2) 19-7=12

so y=12

y= 12 you subtract 7 from both sides of the equation 7 -7 cancels out and 19 - 7 = 12 thus y=12 hope this helps

y+7=9

put the y on its own on one side, remember when you put something on the other side of the = it changes from positive to negative, and vice versa

y= 9-7

now do the 9-7

y=2

very easy just break it down. A tip i have is this:

treat this: 2 + 4 = 4 - x

as these: positive 2 positive 4 = positive 4 negative x

EDIT: oops lol its 19 not 9 but you get the idea

y+7=19

First you minus 7, so you can make the equation more balanced and isolate y. Since you are finding 'y'.
So it would be

y+7=19
-7 -7
________
+7-7= 0

So then you have left y=12 because 19-7 = 12

yay! =) get it?

2007-07-24 10:31:45 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

y+7=19
then subract 7 from each side
y+7-7 = 19-7
Which zeroes out the 7 on the left side of the equation
y+0 = 12
y = 12

Y (corresponds to 12) + 7=19.
You just have to substract from the result the other number you have in the equation and voila!
