Protesting the war is putting a Constitutional right into action. Patriotism.

Patriotism has nothing to do with either protesting or cowardice. Patriotism is the fact that you are loyal to your country and support it in its actions.

It depends on whom you ask!
To the retired hippy who's looking to get some attention for his "giving the Man the finger" 40 years ago, it is an act of patriotism - from his dim perspective.
To those of us who were too young to get involved with the protests 35 or 40 years ago, we wonder WHAT the heck were they thinking back then? They protested when one of their OWN was running-the-show: LBJ. Granted, he refused to run subsequently, and the people elected Nixon in '68. So, once THAT happened, these "peaceniks" went ballistic.
These people are just SO enamored with themselves that they CAN'T let an opportunity like this pass.

As a Viet Nam veteran I totally agree with the very first answer. Protest is an act of patriotism. Right wing conservatives that totally say they support the war but refuse to serve in the military are the real cowards of the United States. Just look at Dick cheney. The biggest coward of them all.

Protesting anything is not necessarily either patriotic or cowardly. Protesting the war is an act of peaceful congregation, calling for an end to violence.

Taking a stand that you feel would be best for the country is an act of patriotism, whether it be supporting the war or protesting it.

Patriotism...having your own opinion, defending it and sticking by it because it is what you think is best for your country is an act of patriotism. Defending a war you don't agree with just because you are afraid of being called unpatriotic....cowardly

It is as patriotic as anything - flag waving, singing the national anthem, etc.
Our country was born out of protest. It is the American way.
What's the alternative?
Just accept without question whatever an administration hands down?
Then we become just yes men and drones; like members of a religious cult, never questioning anything.
