Unlike typical livebearing fishes, the offspring are in no danger whatsoever from the adults. The only consideration you will want to watch for is to be sure the youngest one gets adequate food. Target feeding while the adults are feeding t the other end of the tank would take care of that problem easily. Can I ask what species you have? I currently have 5 P. motoro in a large indoor pool just for them and suspect one of the females is gravid. I would love details on how you are handling them, etc. as I'm attempting this fish for the first time. Feel free to email me.

We have rays that give birth at work all the time. I agree with Magicman, they are in no danger. They shouldn't need any special care except to make sure they are well fed and that the nitrites, etc. stay low.

yes, female freshwater rays are livebearers and it is best to raise all livebearers in sperate tanks.
