Many of my young plants keep mysteriously dying and we have tons of those little guys crawling around them. I know there are many other possibilities, but i'm tired of watching half of the plants i buy die.

Pill bugs are beneficials and don't do any damage. They eat the dead and decaying plant matter strewn on the ground. The pill bugs you are seeing are just cleaning up the debris left by whatever is really causing the problem. Just scroll down this site and you will find the pill bug listed among the beneficials.

It takes a pillbug one year to be an adult and can live up to eight years. They are beneficial in that they break down organic matter but on occasion they will attack plants. They thrive in warm moist environments so you may need to let the area dry out some.
