Why does'nt the USA just conquer the world, and remake it in our image?
and then the world would be one big great perfect and succesful country like ours.

And would that be a bad thing? Sure some countries and peoples would resist, but we could quelch them with such overwhelming force, that the rest would soon toe the line and sing our praises.

That seems to be the idea.

Because it would be a twisted and distorted image, as a mirror in a funhouse.

The US is not perfect. The US is not particularly successful. The US IS rich, but the US has terrible public services, a very damaging two-party system (and not at least 3, like almost every other democratic country) not a brilliant education system, incredibly high violent crime and crime rate in general. I believe in some aspects European countries are better than the US - though these countries are lacking in some other areas.

Besides - I think you would find EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY YOU INVADED would have a very strong resistance - sorry, insurgency, and that is of course ignoring the fact that you would be absolutely, totally, hideously outnumbered - even just invading South American countries.

Most people don't like being told what to do by jarheads from a foreign country, especially if these people say "you can't vote for who YOU want, you've got to vote for who we tell you to. If you don't, we'll kill some of you, then let you try again", then calling that democracy and freedom. Western Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia - even India and Russia to some extent, are successful countries. We are not americans, nor do we wish to be - but we share many of your values. Cross us, impose your culture on us and we would fight you and destroy you utterly.

That reminds me of world history and a song!! Jump up on the desk and sing along....

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks

Istanbul (Istanbul)
Istanbul (Istanbul)

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks

The United States can't even successfully invade and hold Iraq... a country that barely had an army and absolutley no means to defend itself... a country that also had barely enough means to feed themselves.

If you can't even successfully conquer a country like that.. what makes you think you even stand a chance against the world?

Look through out history at the ones who have conquered the world. What's happend to them? They're gone. And America would follow suit.

Because it's a dumb idea that won't work. The US is not all powerful and all knowing, and we are NOT perfect! If US citizens resisted this, would they be "squelched" too? With all the guns in the US, I think they'd squelch any supporters of this crazy idea first and go on about their business.

This proposal is too simple minded. And you think resistance would be small? Resistance would be huge. And it would come from within too. In the end, you'd have 35% of the Earth's population remaining, and for what?

The US does not have the resources to conquer (AND HOLD) the territory.

Napoleon, Caesar, Charlemange, and others all thought they could take on the world.
