It certainly wouldn't hurt the bettas at all. In fact, it would be a near perfect balance of amino acids which is critical for egg formation. I would not however make it the only food they receive, but sure they get plenty of pellets and other frozen or live foods as well.

I think it's probably just fine as long as that isn't the only thing you are feeding. I am assuming you have convicts that are breeding and that is where you are getting the fry from, so you can see the source and see how healthy (or not) they are. Obviously if there is illness, you don't want to feed them so you won't pass it along, but otherwise, I don't see a problem.

If you have more than one Betta you could also try experimenting to see which diet works better. You could also try different diets with the same fish and see how it affects him/her.

People use baby convicts as feeders all the time. In fact, it is about the only practical way to own a pair. If he eats them, then go for it. You are better off feeding the fry off than having to beg a pet store to take 150 1 1/2" baby convicts off your hands. Obviously, a rich and varied diet is always best, but there is nothing wrong with a bit of free food.

You're better off sticking with pellets, flakes, bloodworms, and brine shrimp. Feeders don't have the proper vitamins and nutrients for fish. Plus, you may end up with the fish not eating anything else other then feeders. That happens quite a bit with oscars and other large cichlids.
