I am the same way. I just don't feel comforable around people and I always feel anxious to some degree. I haven't learned how to do it naturally, but I just fake it. Fake it 'till you make, they say.

So you've been on the job for seven months and they like you. So what's the problem? I'll tell you in a heartbeat what it is --you have low self-confidence and low self-esteem, both of which are essential not only in the work situation, but in social activities. What I would suggest to you is to try and make one or two good friends at work. You don't have to have a whole group of friends, just a couple with whom you feel comfortable. Eventually, you'll be able to expand that circle of friendship to include others, and you'll feel much better about yourself. Try and be interested in the other person, find out what he likes, what he likes to do, what his hobbies are, etc. You may find something in common that you can regularly discuss, or even go somewhere together. Be friendly and smile to everyone, and say "good morning" when you get to work. You'll find that by being friendly to others, they will return the friendliness to you. Good luck, and God bless!
