I fully agree. I didn't like most of the rest of the book for a gret number of reasons, however that 19 years later thing was just stupid. One of the main issues (other then that it sounds like a fairy tale as you said) is that Harry didn't take care of his god-son, so she didn't even put in some of the things that should have been put in (though Lupin and Tonks shouldn't have died in the first place)
The whole book seemed rushed, the end sounded like a fairy tale (in real life most people don't end up married with kids to the person they dated in highschool), to many people died for no reason, and there were to many things that she said she would explain that she never did, and to many things that were put into the book that weren't explained well either.
I hope that some day J.K.Rowling will actually write up a real last book, instead of that $35 waste of time fanfic, half the people on fanfiction.net could have writen a better story. As for as I go the Half-blood Prince was the real last book, and it's a make your own ending.

It was nice enough, but not really what I would have liked to see. It would have been nice if she'd simply added a paragraph (or more) on each of the significant characters to the series who survived the book. Something to say what became of them after Hogwarts and Voldemort's defeat.
I mean, we know a little for six of them. Harry and Ginny get married and have three kids. Ron and Hermione get married with two kids. Malfoy is married with at least one kid, and Neville is teaching at Hogwarts. But that's it. What do Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny do for a living? Is Ginny pretty much a stay at home mom? Is Hermione the same? How long after Voldemort did these four get married? Is Harry so rich with what he inherited from his parents and Sirius that he doesn't have to work? Do he and Ron work together? What does Malfoy do for a living? Is he so rich he doesn't have to work? And what about Neville, is he married with a kid?
We hear Percy saying something about brooms, but we don't see him. Is he once more working for the ministry or does he now work in some way for Hogwarts? Ted Lupin was unimportant to the series really, but we know he's now out of Hogwarts and romantically involved with Victoire Weasley, who may well be Bill and Fleur's daughter. Is Victoire in fact Bill and Fleur's or is she Charlie, Percy, or George's daughter? When was she born? What kind of grades did Teddy get in school and what was his favorite class? What's he doing now?
It would just have been nice to know just what became of everyone.

Well of course it was going to sound like a child's fairy tale, all the action was over. The only thing left was to make the happy ending which I think was pretty satisfying. I said through the whole thing she better come off giving Harry and Ginny 15 kids and have them live happily ever after....

I think the epiligoue should have been called "50 years later" and been an obtiuary written in the daily profit. Similiar to the one written by Dumbeldore's friend, that was shown in the book. Saying things like "we first met when we were 11 years old....he leaves behind his lovely wife ginny and their 3 kids"...something like the really would have been a beautiful ending, a way we could find out everything withought the corny ending. It should have been written by ron or hermione.

I agree with babysisterchrissy, without the epilogue many people (including me) would be constantly wondering: Do Harry and Ginny end up together? What about Ron and Hermione? And what about poor Teddy!?
It was just a simple but effective for J.K. Rowling to say: "all is well in the previously turmoiled life of Harry Potter.

i liked the epilogue because we got to get a glimpse of what happened in the future. although it didnt address a lot of the other characters, at least i knew what happened to some of them, like neville not teaching herbology on hogwarts, or that draco also had a family and now has a son too named scorpius. it ended the series on a happy, peaceful note, with harry having the kind of life he never thought he'd have.

I think the point is Harry lives out an ordinary life. The goal of his early life was achieved- the destruction of Morty, and then he had what he’d always dreamed of- a ‘regular’ life, a wife and family.

yea i completly agree..it just didnt match the rest of the book...i think a better ending would have been like the double wedding of Harry and Ginny and Ron and Hermoine... i mean i thought it was cute how they had three kids and how they named them lilly james and albus..but none of the other books have been"cute" ..idk it just wasnt an endind that left an impact like i was expecting it to and wanted it to so...i mean it didnt take away from the rest of the book tho so i didnt mind

if she had left it off there would be thousands of teenagers screaming in the streets "how many babies did harry potter have???" It was fluff for the kids, unnecessary but not enought to ruin the book.
