American tax's pay millions to these companies that have fur farm and slaughter houses and stuff???
Animals are often skinned alive 99.9% of the time??
Companies often use dog and cat fur and are still allowed to put faux fur on the label.
We have other ways to test product that work.
I don't want americans or animals in America to die. :(
Most cosmetics are tested and no shampoo isn't tested buy shampoo a dog. It tested by cutting out a chunk off a dog or rabbit stomach while still alive and then the product is covered in it.
Does anyone agree???????? Or am I fighting for a lost that will never because a major issue in the USA???
Why isn't any cadidate talking about this issue??? Is it important.
Shouldn't we use tax dollars for this such as repairing highways, building schools, stopping gangs and drugs.

Anderson Cooper didn't show it at the debates last night,
but a 12 year old asked what the candidates were going
to do about climate changes because, by the time he's
their age, half of our species will have gone extinct.
Animals are the soul of our planet and when something
goes wrong with a species, it's a pretty good indication
that something isn't right with the environment.
As for using animals for testing, I'm totally against it
and with you 100%. With all the new scientific testing &
technology we have today, there's no reason for it.
And with new technology, it's almost impossible to
tell synthetic furs from real ones. There's no reason
to wear real animal fur or leather, for that matter.

Animal rights is a very important issue, but it cannot take precedence over human rights. Many humans are also slaughtered, tortured & treated as slaves. Human children are being abused on a daily basis. Certainly these things need to be a priority.

I totally agree with you and what you are saying. To answer your question, animals can't vote so our politicians can't be bothered with focusing on their welfare. As animal lovers, it's up to us, primarily through grassroots efforts, to advocate on behalf of those who have no voice. We need to develop ways to hold our elected officials accountable for their decisions regarding animal welfare and to educate them on the plight of suffering animals. It is completely ludicrous that cosmetic testing on animals is still allowed. However, cosmetic companies have money, which equals power in the political arena, and as long as they are making donations to the right people, nobody is going to want to risk losing their donations by going against them.
I think that it's a wonderful idea to use tax dollars for animal rescue. I rescue animals and have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars out of my own pocket. We use tax dollars to fund wars and in a plethora of wasteful ways. If we put some money aside for animal welfare, that would be a great use of tax dollars.
Write your congresspeople and tell them how you feel about this issue and encourage your friends to do the same (perhaps, even start a letter writing campaign or a petition demanding a ban on animal testing for cosmetic purposes). The only way we can get Washington to notice the suffering of animals is to let them know that we will not vote for a candidate who does not support animal rights. Also, support your local animal rescue organizations with your time and money (if you are able).

Animals don't have rights like human beings but I do get your point. Animals should be treated with love and care. I have a turtle and cat and know what animals want. But we have something called the food chain. This is the reason why we need to consume chicken or beef; it's just the food chain. I like to eat meat but I would never eat my turtle or cat if I'm starving. I have mixed emotions on this. However, I agree with you on not having animals being tested on with cosmetics. This reminded me of "Legally Blonde 2". Thanks!
By the way, I meant that animals have rights but not the same ones as humans. Human beings are animals too. I support the rights for animals and don't support torture on them. I'm against bull-fighting, cock-fighting and dog-fighting among other sports that involve animals. I feel sorry for how animals are tortured and would never support such a position. Now, I may never become a vegetarian but I do want animals to live the life they deserve. When they're alive, they deserve to be treated with care but when an animal is dead that all ends. If I'm going to eat chicken, I want to hope that it didn't suffer torture. I'm also against using animal fur because I think it's not right or fair.

There ARE animals rights groups but not @ a government level. Our corrupt government leaders only care about stuffing their pockets with kick back money & stuffing their FACES with the meat from the slauhgter house! United States of Bush is a fraud!

Because sadly animals are not voters. They are not taxpayers. They are not citizens.
I am actually more concerned about the human lives lost through abortion than the sea lions and whales. Thousands of innocent, defenseless unborn babies are killed each year, for convenience alone. To me,that's a more important issue.

Animals don't have "rights". We have protections for them. We have too many other major issues that take precedence over animals. "Animal Rights" is not an issue (a wedge issue) that will give clear distinctions between candidates. Candidates look for issues that set them apart, and hopefully above, the others.

It is a pro-choice issue, the animal is lower on the scale then the unborn child, so until the injustices that are done to the unborn child are corrected, animals are screwed.

Animals are not people. Get off the non-issue. God created animal for our use and enjoyment. This does not mean that torture for entertainment is fine. This does mean that slaughtering animals for there meat and fur is the intended use for them.
