Not really its an isolated case and im sure stern will get off his rump to fix it because if the nba ratings fall any more he may not get his secret million dollar paychecks that come in the mail

No, but the NBA really does need to do something to correct this, because this will be a major scar on the game for years to come.
David Stern did not really look at his best at the press conference today, and he really needs to get this situation corrected as soon as the facts are in.
The betting on games was bad enough, but the supposed ties to organized crime that Donaghy allegedly had... that is ten times worse.
The NBA needs to find a way to revamp the referee policies and make sure something like this does not happen again. Hopefully, it is an isolated incident.

I hope this doesn't sound cruel, but THE NBA and all our sports Genres such as the NFL, SOCCER. BASEBALL, are failing our young stars by failing to institute a POLICY OF ABSOLUTE NON-TOLERANCE.
The young men & women entering the pro sports world are not prepared for the mega-bucks, the adoration, the constant demands of the press, or sponsers. IT IS TOTAL, ABSOLUTE CULTURE SHOCK. (This includes Refs & Umps coming up through the ranks.)
The reality for those who run sports is that "CONTROVERSY SELLS TICKETS" bringing into the parks those who want to give the controversial figure a break and those who want to see them strung up.
The owners & sponsers of these young people always have an out with "MORALS" or other clauses that enable entities such as the NBA to maximize ticket sales & income as long as the controversial figure can handle it, & then it so easy to pretend they can no longer tolerate such behavior and leave the super rich athlete with no money, no sponsors, & no futures.
I think that once an athlete is selected to the pro ranks, the "Powers that be have an absolute obligation to inform through formal instruction what the new athlete will be facing & allow for ONE slipup. After that, the athlete has been taught & given ONE chance to reform. At that point they have either proved their ability to conform to a strict set of behaviorial standards or they have proven a flaw in their character that will be a detriment to the applicable sport from now on.
There are thousands of qualified replacements waiting in the wings for everyone of those who got the opportunity of a lifetime & failed to take advantage of it.

not really.. the scandal does put a scar on the NBA's image. but in a world inhabited by humans i'm not so suprised that this has come up. it's almost expected that at least one if not more refs are betting on games. "with great power comes great responsibilites" and in a real world.. there are bound to be crooked people whether in sports or in anything else that's never gonna change

Scandals are a part of the game, just like they are in any game. This is an isolated situation. I am still a fan. I am glad Stern came down on that referee immediately after he found out.

Nope, I'm still a fan of the game, just because this event happened doesn't change my view of the NBA.

no because i'm a real basketball fan. this scandal will turn off the casual fans, but then again those are the same people who complained about the finals being boring this year. this scandal is a huge deal but to assume that all games are rigged as a result is just foolish.

1st of all it will prove to be true because he will plead guilty when he shows up to court next week, but I'm too much of a fan to turn my back on the game. Shoot I just wish he had did the Laker games and placed bets on them to win...anyway I will always be a fan. One monkey won't stop no show.....I guess thats how the saying goes.

It makes no difference to me what-so-ever. On the other hand, I could care less about the NBA.
