Slope form

m = y₂- y₁/ x₂- x₁

Ordered Pair

(- 3, 7)(2, 4)

m = 4 - 7 / 2 - (- 3)

m = - 3 / 2 + 3

m = - 3/5

Slope is - 3/5

Slope intercept form

y = mx + b

7 = - 3/5(- 3) + b

7 = - ( - 9/5) + b

7 = 9/5 + b

Transpose 9/5

7 - 9/5 = 9/5 + b - 9/5

35/5 - 9/5 = b

26/5 = b

The equation

y = - 3/5x + 26/5

Convert to standard Fom

Y = - 3/5 + 26/5

Clear the fraction

5y = - 5(3/5x) + 5(26/5)

5y = - 3x + 26

Transpose 3x

3x + 5y = - 3x + 26 + 3x

3x + 5y = 26

Transpose 26

3x + 5y - 26 = 26 - 26

3x + 5y - 26 = 0

The equation is:
y = (4 - 7)(x - 2) / (2 + 3) + 4
y = -3(x - 2)/5 + 4
y = -3x/5 + 6/5 + 4
y = -3x/5 + 26/5.
