This is an article called 'Butterfly shows evolution at work' very interesting and I just want to see what people think about it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6896753.stm

It is interesting. I think the breathless comments about how quickly the male butterfly recovered are a little over the top:

"To my knowledge, this is the fastest evolutionary change that has ever been observed," said Sylvain Charlat, of University College London, UK

It certainly isn't the fastest example of evolution at work. In terms of time in which a mutation becomes selected for in a population, the honor would would have to go to bacteria, whose generation times are much shorter than butterflies. I have on multiple occasions seen mutations become established and take over bacterial colonies within a day or so.

Pretty cool. Butterflys are pretty. I wish I could see more of them, but I live in Las Vegas, and I don't get to sit in the park much. I'm around desert. I see lots of locusts and black widows - not exactly fun substitutes for pretty butterflys.

Interesting and pretty convincing. Such things are always going on, but we don't always find out about them.
