Deble is correct. This will die down, but not lie dormant.
The case will be back again because of the cruelty involved.
Say what you want about Pacman Jones, nobody has ever accused him of being involved in the hanging, drowning and electrocution of dogs.

While it was a tragic crime—doubly tragic in that Lewis’s plea deal was the only conviction in the case—a crime arising out of a street brawl is not as incomprehensible to the average person as this grisly and gruesome array of savage misdeeds directed at helpless animals.

Pitbulls were bred by MAN to be viscous.... if the dog was not - they were killed. So don't give me 'this is what they were bred to do and WANT to do." If 5 generations of nice Pitbulls were bred, hardly any fighting Pits would be around; the bad ones can be neutered immediately and go through stiff training.

"Some of the grisly details in the Federal filings shocked even me, as the dog fighting operators were killing dogs by hanging them, wetting them down and electrocuting by applying a wire to the mouth and the anus - - it is said Vick ordered this - - and one dog was killed by slamming its head into the ground repeatedly. What kind of person does this type of thing ? Those are extremely violent methods of execution on top of the forced fighting -- they're unnecessary and just sick."

It is hard to imagine, with an indictment hanging over him in this particularly sordid matter, how he could perform at a higher level while commanding the respect of his teammates. And then there is the question of the hometown fans. Fans have been known to put blinders on when it comes to its favorites.

While he deserves all the legal protections our society offers, none guarantee him the right to keep his job as the Falcons’ starting quarterback.

Moreover, with Vick facing prison time if convicted, maintaining him as the team’s centerpiece may be a rather imprudent investment in the team’s future.

This investigation and outcome - no matter what it is - should set a big examples to others and animal fighting will go underground even more.

Soooooo THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO with tree hugging NOR eating MEAT !!!!

Animal welfare exists in slaughter houses. No slaughter house would hang, electrocute, or slam in the ground a 'meat animal.' READ ! Animals killed this way DO NOT TASTE GOOD..... flight and fight hormones are kicked in with tortured animals.

Quote:

'A captive bolt stunning gun kills the animal and reduces it instantly unconscious without causing pain. A captive bolt gun has a steel bolt that is powered by either compressed air or a blank cartridge. The bolt is driven into the animal's brain. It has the same effect on the animal as a firearm with a live bullet. After the animal is shot the bolt retracts and is reset for the next animal. A captive bolt gun is safer than a firearm. '

No way man!

Nothing beats dog electrocution for polite dinner table conversation.

"Can you pass the potatoes?"
"Sure, but only if you tell me once more about how Michael Vick has to deal with dogs that won't fight."

I am hoping for the same 24/7, in your face, All-Vick-All-The-Time, coverage we got during the Kobe Bryant case.

In terms of importance, the Vick case is right up there with curing cancer.

Hey Odehyah: There are a lot of brands of decaffeinated coffees that are just as tasty as the real thing. I suggest you switch.

Oh, and don't assume everyone here is a "meat eater."

I just viciously slaughtered a bag of carrots.

What I want all the naysayers about Vick to do is look in the mirror and say "I'm as guilty as Vick because I eat meat!"

What is the difference between dog fighting and slaughtering animals for food? Don't you know the poor animals you put on your dinner table are abused way more than the dogs involved in the dog fighting everyone is denouncing Vick for?

What ignorant hypocrites you meat eaters are! Do you think chickens, beef cattle, lamb and pigs dance to the slaughter house with smiles on their faces? Come on! Be for real. You don't want to hear about Vick but you'll line up for hours at the BUTCHER's to get your meat, never considering how abusive and barbarian it is to eat meat. HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!!!!

I definately am tired of it. I want to hear about football. I want to know how the holdouts are doing and which players are doing well in practices and which ones the coaches are high on. I want to know which teams look to have new strategies and which teams may go to a goal line back (Duckett in DET?, Davenport in PIT?, Snelling in ATL?, will Jacksonville use G. Jones or Jones-Drew?). Talk about if Culpepper will go to ATL or JAC.

We know Vick is in trouble. No one is counting on Vick to play. Just tell us useful information and things we are interested in and not consistantly about the same issue over and over again.

Yes.

Let's just wait to see what happens.

Until then, I would just love if everyone would post questions that are not related to Vick's case. lol!

P.S. CrashFu is funny. (The answerer that is 5 spots below me.) In his/her own way, CrashFu makes a good point about the world we live in. What is really important?

The best part is that the animal rights people are after him. They won't rest until he gets some of the justice they like to serve up.

I am, but people will go on about it because there are a lot of "perfect" people in this world, especially on Y/A. The "perfect people" are the ones that want him crucified even though he hasn't even been to trial yet.

Yes, we need to find something else to talk about, but the hippie tree hugging dog lovers will not drop the subject, they keep saying what a horrible person he is and so on and so forth. We have heard it all people, give it a rest.
