Yes, all the time! At work and at home, did several hours of it today. I've never had any foot injuries, get splinters in my hands often enough but since I'm always barefoot, the skin on my feet is easily tough enough to withstand the thistles and brambles and occasional wood splinter. Just in case I do keep my Tetanus vaccine up to date but that's something everyone should do; the vaccine has been around since the 1920's, and there are other ways of catching it apart from stepping on a nail while barefoot, especially for people doing yardwork... cuts with dirty gardening tools on any other body part are among the risk factors too! I've never found a nail in the ground here, sometimes glass or shards of pottery but these are so worn down from being in the soil for years, they would be of little risk even to people who don't habitually go barefoot. My own feet are very tough with all the barefooting I do, I walk barefoot on pavement too and never pick up anything bad.
I've stepped on a bee just once (as a kid) fortunately I'm not sensitive to bee stings, pulled out the stinger, ten minutes later I couldn't tell where it had happened. I'm glad I didn't start wearing shoes after that one time it happened something like 25 years back because that was the only time ever. I get stung on other places of the body far more often, like once every summer, usually when sitting down on one, or when one gets caught in my clothing or hair or something... but I don't go around wearing body armour do I?
Parasites are unlikely too. If you get pinworm from gardening, I suggest you either wash your hands better or stop licking your toes, because it spreads by ingestion only, not through the skin. Hookworm can enter through the skin but it's been pretty much gone from the South since modern plumbing has replaced the outhouses and never was a problem in cooler climates. If you still have hookworm in your yard, see a doctor for a deworming cure and start using the restroom like everyone else :-)

Barefoot is the only way to cut the grass. There is nothing like walking barefoot on freshly cut grass, and it can't get any more freshly cut than when you are walking right behind the mower!

Of course! I really like it when I am weed wacking and that plastic string that cuts the grass hits me in the foot. Or when I am walking and a bee stings the bottom of my foot. How about when I am cutting the grass and I slice off my foot with the lawnmower blade...I love that!!

yes... i rake leaves, clean the pool, weed the garden and plant flowers barefoot. But I learned the hard way that when you are cutting stuff with thorns, you should probably wear shoes.

Yes...grew up in the country and we (my two sisters and I) rarely wore shoes. Mornings around 5 a.m. my mother would have us out in the garden, weeding and harvesting, etc. We always went barefoot - stickers couldn't even puncture! lol

No, when I was about 15yo , I was using a push type lawn mower and caught my foot under it, there was a lot of blood and my shoe just had a scrap on it. So I never work outside without shoes
