I am a C2-C3 ventilator dependent quadriplegic, as far as what my day is like, most of the morning is devoted to personal care as I am reliant on live-in attendants for my personal needs, the rest of the day is basically like everyone else's. My biggest past time is the computer and with being a lover of the outdoors, I am outside in the fresh air any time I can. I am not a big TV buff, but I do enjoy watching documentary and history shows.

I am legally blind, but I do have some sight. I get up, feed my cat, clean out her bowls, make my own breakfast as well as all my other meals,do the dishes and clean up around the house.

I watch the morning news shows, then if I have some writing assignments I spend the time reseaching what I need to write about.

I like watching news programs , talk shows, House, Little Mosque on the Prarie, the Rick Mercer Show, the Daily Show, Stephen Colbert show, Royal Canadian Air Farce, any of the Brit Coms. I like PBS.

I enjoy reading fiction and non fiction. I love to attend live theatre and concerts. When I do travel I travel independently, I do not use a guide dog or have a companion who must travel with me. I have travelled quite extensively over the past 20 years.

When I can't sleep I listen to Coast to Coast AM. I expect , despite having a disability my day isn't that much different than your's.

Because someone is disabled doesn't make them weird. Disabled people live every day lives just like you and everyone else. Some go to work, some can't do to other health factors, but we all contribute in some way.

I had to retire at 55 due to crippling arthritis/spondylosis. I am busier now than ever.
I'm writing a memoir for my daughter, grandchildren and great-grans because I've had a most unique journey (so far.) I have many good friends and enjoy lunch or shopping with them. Another takes me fishing at least once a week. I crochet, quilt, read, surf the net, keep up with friends on myspace, watch Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Dog the Bounty Hunter and some docudramas. I enjoy trying new recipes when I am able. I listen to Southern gospel music, Bob Seger, Neil Diamond, the Beatles, and classic country. I enjoy my Pomeranian, my Siamese cat and my Tortoiseshell cat. I like listening to my two birds chatter away. Every day is a new adventure in what I can do and where my power chair will take me! God is good!

My disability is a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). I'm considered high functioning, but I have trouble with organizational skills, etc. I do have a case worker and an aid who work with me several times a week. I'm usually up late at night. Sometimes I'll watch syndicated shows (Will and Grace, Roseanne). I also watch CSI, the Law and Order shows, Numbers, NCIS, if there's a decent movie on I may watch that. Movies: The Dark Crystal, Groundhog Day, Coal Miner's Daughter are several I have on DVD. I garden a lot, write stories, draw, work on my computer, take care of my cats, visit with my kids. When the weather cools down, I like cooking. I try to take walks for exercise daily.

I read, paint sometimes, not very often because its painful for me, do some photography on weekends, maybe once a month, spend most of my time filling out forms and trying to make sense of them.

Make my bed, clean up a bit, do laundry, cook dinner two or three times a week. Feed the cat, water my flowers on the balcony sometimes and the cat grass, but my roommate usually does that when I nag him, and spend too much time worrying and being angry at the system.

On good days I wash my hair because it can be difficult , due to upper body disability, the hair dryer can be a hard thing to manage, and using my arms to wash it.

I dont really like watching TV very much, but I like Dr Phil sometimes and HGTV. I find most movies bore me, but watched that Astronaut Farmer and it was good I thought.

I participate here, and surf art galleries on the internet. Then I have to take xtra stength tylenol and lie down with a heating pad to rest my neck, shoulders, etc.

I argue with my roommate, and every Saturday go into the city to buy groceries. I am a boring person, so I have stopped calling my friends, if they want to talk to me they know where I am. One friend still calls me.

I dream small dreams.

I get up everytime my wife gets up to get ready for work. I read to her while she gets ready...sometimes she gets up at 1:30 AM sometimes at 4:00 AM...I have never missed a time getting up with her. She is my lover, and best friend....I have been disabled 28 years...and she has never said I wish it was different.
I see her to the car, and then usually get a couple more hours of sleep.
I am a quad, but I can drive..so I go and have a cup of cappincunio, go see my wife on break, and go home.
I pay the bills, and sometime make a roast. I would love to cook more, but can,t handle the dishes.
I watch a good movie on TV, love the dog and cat, and wait for my precious lady to come home.
On her days off, we try to do something she likes, because what she likes, I do too. She works hard.
I call all our kids at least once a week, usually more (we have 4)
I attend Church as much as possiable.
My greatest fun is making my honey happy, and calling or seeing my kids and grandchildren.
We go walking every day...she walks, I go along in my power chair, we meet a lot of people and dogs....have made friends with almost all of them. We still hold hands.
We have been married for 40 years.
We are going on a hawiian cruise in Sept.
There is nothing I won't try to do, and I fail often, but I succeed also
Pain is always there, but she makes it better.

Life is a struggle for us, I do not sleep due to pain, pain pills do not work on me, sitting for more than 15 minutes is difficult, I have not seen a movie in years, I sometimes read, and I'm going through a divorce after 30 years, he would not help with any house work nothing, he made a point of telling me that everyday, so now I live in a apartment, I miss the house but that's life. When the pain is bad I do not want to be around anybody, just want to be left alone.

This is one of them. I have cable so sometimes I watch TV or listen to the radio. It depends on if it's a good day or a bad day. I want to start another vegetable garden, but I've had the plants for over a month now & half are dead. I have to do everything a little at a time. I'm learning another language on the computer.

trying to figure out how to pay for rent food and meds do i eat or live under a bridge or just die without my meds. after 9 months of being totally disabled and not having money just now got approved for SSD but have to wait to 2 years for medicare. i think they hope people will die first then they wont have to help you.

but, yes i know some people will not like this, but so many illegal people or even legal people who come to america then get all the benefits with none left over for the people who have worked all their lives.

while i am complaining i want to complain about people who use adhd for children as a disabillity, WRONG WRONG WRONG, I KNOW i raised a son who was very very very adhd but would never ever call it a disability just a challenge on how to redirect things into a positive way
