She can still get around pretty well with a cane, and she can keep the house clean, and do the shopping. She says I am selfish. I am just trying to be practical. Our insurance won't cover the surgery. Who is right?

You are. First of all, she can still get around. So, what is the problem. Do people buy new cars everytime it gets dirty or gets a dent in it? The answer is no, because it still gets around. B) Your insurance won't cover it. What does she want you to do? Wish the money or something? It's not practical to pay more than you need to for something that doesnt even need any attention paid to in the first place. Part C With a new truck or boat, you could put her in it (in the case of the truck in the back) and haul her around from place to place. She can enjoy the ride and not have to complain about the "pain" she endures everyday. Well, I hope this helps.

She is. I can'nt believe you feel having a truck or boat is more important then your wife's health. It will cost you more if she end up having to use a wheel chair then you would have to have someone come in and assist her with bathing, cleaning house, dressing, making meals shopping doctor's apointments etc. You can also get a part time job to help pay for her surgery thats what a real man would do.

Boy arn't you the perfect husband. Selfish and materialistic.
Glad I'm not married to you. What goes around comes around, KARMA will get you in the end. No, insurance won't cover the surgery, but the money you want to spend on you toys would.

Definitively ask for divorce. What a horrible thing of her! To think that she can be more important than your new truck or boat. Phew! And in the meantime, maybe she can find someone who isn't such a prick and be much happier, while you will try to find something clean you can wear or a plate you can eat from, because gosh, it would probably kill you to do a 'woman's job' and clean the house!

So you rather want your wife to be in pain instead of spending the money on her health? What's wrong with you? My mom and my grandmother both had both knees replaced, I know that it was a lot of pain to them before they got the new knees and now it's way better. So if you care for your wife (surely doesn't sound like you love her) let her have the replacement. I'm sure if it was your health you wouldn't be so greedy.

In your case going abroad is definitely a good option. My brother in law had a knee replacement procedure done in Cancun, Mexico for around 12k. He brought his whole family with him, recovered in a nice resort and he saved money. The medical tourism agency he hired even made the travel arrangements for him and charged him nothing.

It's not a matter of right or wrong or how money is well spent...whatever happened to your wedding vows?..Or did you even remember those..Pompous A**..Selfish?..Now there is an understatement!...maybe what she should do is kick you to the curb and collect your social security...that is if you worked...Or did she wear her knees out working for you and the family?...If you can afford a freaking boat or truck then you can well afford to help the woman you took in sickness and in health!...HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You sure aren't right....

She is. Health should *always* come before recreational activities.

And if she's getting around on a cane, you should help her with some of the cleaning and shopping.

she may be able to get aroung but her qualty of life is not good. She is in pain and it will only get worse it is best to do it now that you can afford it because when you are retired and can't afford a truck or the knee she will be in a tremendous amount of pain and will hardly be able to get out of bed you will have to bath dress and take her everywhere. how can her comfort and healt not be pratical

i agree, as long as she can cook and clean, and you can help her get in the boat , go for it, there are thousands of people running around with only one leg, she should be happy that she has 2.
