Dig this one daddy-o...

Jazz-man

Jazz-man take your five
Stretch it out to ten
Before you’re back again
Cold coffee and stale conversation
Pretentious Boheme babble
In a room too thick with smoke
Enough to make you choke
Banging clanging dishes add a chorus in the rear
Makes it hard to hear
If you really want to listen
Coolness has a price in red-eyed discomfort
Youth pretending age; Age in search of youth
Both just lacking couth
Twisted smiles like cynic dials
Speak truth behind deception
From their base of misconception
Sweat and stains with fashion names
Designer labels for modern fables
Complaints about conditions
And the faults with all the world
Ideas and perceptions that will never see the light
For paradox and ignorance live better in the night
Conundrums are not bongos
And big words don’t prove a brain
One more link in one more chain
Whirlpooled life goes down the drain...
Shhhh, the Jazz-man’s back again

Dude, I know you are just kidding, but really, "Dig Man"? Just too funny.

I never cared for Kerouac as a poet. I think that Ginsberg was really the best.

Gray Snyder was cool, but it's all natural, not urban.

kerouac was a great writer, as well as a great poet. you ought to try someone like kenneth patchen and even rod mckuen, despite those who think he's not beat. he is.
