What problems do one suffer when they have been physically, verbally or sexually abused? What mental illnesses or social disfunction results from childhood issues?

From sexual abuse , many women ( and men) have trouble trusting people in their latter relationships, and also suffer from post tramatic stress. Verbal abuse causes low self esteem and anger. Eating disorders are often caused by neglect and low self esteem, both things that parents can do something about. Also wrist cutting, which is sadly becoming more and more common, threating suicide, and getting into fights or drugs are all a cry for attention.

Unfortunately, quite a few. Since most of our impressions are created in the formative years of childhood, these are the ones that remain with us throughout our lives. Childhood abuse is not something that one outgrows. Either the memories of it remain vividly in the mind, or it is suppressed in the subconscious. But it is always there.
You don't have to necessarily lead a dysfunctional life or suffer from psychological disorders. But there may be times when counseling or therapy will be of help to overcome those destructive memories whenever they resurface to the point where they become a problem.

Get some professional help and you can overcome this and good Luck I do worry about my grandson as his father beat his mother up and usually if you do not receive help history repeats its self.
