Not at all. The baseball postseason is about luck and chance as much as anything else, and it's far from guaranteed that the "best" team will win the World Series. The Cards just got hot at the right time.

The unpredictability of the postseason is what makes me laugh every time I see people on here saying stuff like, "The Angels can't beat the Tigers," or whatever teams you want to use. It's a best-of-seven - anything can happen! Too many people here haven't studied the math behind a short series.

I was a little surprised that they won. I was VERY surprised that the Tigers let them win with some atrocious fielding. I was thinking Tigers in 5, maybe a tight, well-played 7-game Series.

From an artistic standpoint, or a dramatic one, that was one of the worst World Series ever. But I don't think Cardinal fans care. This is baseball, not gymnastics or figure skating. They don't give you points for style. If they did, some of those 1970s teams (the green-and-gold A's, the black-and-orange Orioles, the black-and-lemon-yellow Pirates) would've been behind the expansion teams!

No. They made the playoffs did'nt they? If you look at thier roster they have a lot of good players like Pujols, Carpenter, Rolen, Edmunds, Eckstein. They just got hot and put it all together at the right time and played their best. The most talented team will not always win, it is the team that is playing the best will win. Remember the White Sox and Angels a few years ago.

yeah i was a little surprised since they barely even won the NL central, then to get through the mets was surprising also. They rolled over the tigers way too easily

Yes--because my Detroit Tigers blew it...they shifted from the "Underdog" to the "Heavy Favorite" for the World Series, and that's why they lost. That and stupid Fernando Rodney and Joel Zumaya made the WORST errors ever...

Yes, considering the fact that there were other teams with a better record than them in the NL and they won a crappy division.

The Mets choked in the NLCS and Detroit just never got it together against the Cards.

It was amazing.

sure was....

unlike the previous 3-4 yrs b4 last season they had VERY good regular season teams that underperformed in the playoffs... last year they were very average, lucky to BE in the playoffs... PLUS

the mets were very good all of last year, so a betting man would have favored them in a 7-game series.....

the tigers were also very good all of last year, so again you would have picked them even though they themselves were a surprise team
