I have recently been diagnosed with clinical depression. I went to a dr. and am now taking paxil. The dr. gave me an excuse from work, I should have returned to work today, but when I called lastnight to see what time I come in my boss told me I was off the schedule for the week because they weren't sure if I could handle it. I called another boss who's higher up and she said she didn't have time to talk to me. I told her all I want to know is if I work tonight because I was supposed to. She said she would call me back but she hasn't yet. By the way I live in Upstate New york, can they do that even though my dr. said I can go back to work?

HA! That sounds a lot like the Postal Service.
Stinks, huh? According to your employee handbook, they probably have the right to not schedule you whenever they want. I'm not sure what kind of job you have but most employers can take you off the schedule and claim that it was "for the employee's benefit", or they were "concerned for the health of the employee." So to any onlookers or for legal purposes the employer is the nice guy, always looking out for the good of the employees.
Yeah, I know- it ain't right!
You also might want to do some research on natural alternatives to depression drugs. They have WAAAY less side effects.

Dear wait for a Week and do not get Upset as it might Cause Bad Health so be +ve and Always Remember Work
Like that You are Required by them and not Your Require ment for work .

Make them Handicapp by Handling more work so that they need You .

if your doctor gave you a release from work, he needs to give you a return to work before you can go back. Your employer is correct in waiting to have something in writing from your doctor saying you are able to work again.

Yes they can do that. It's thier company, they can hire fire or schedule any way they want. Sounds to me like they are worried about your performance and health. All you have to do is prove to them that you are ready to return to work.
