I wanted to use our toaster oven to partially anneal the aluminum from a soda can, just to get out the wrinkles in the sheets, but from experience in using a standard blowtorch while annealing tells me that it gives off a rather unpleasant stench. now, our toaster oven dosn't smell great, but I don't want the smell of baking metal sticking on top of that... what I want to ask, is , will the smell from the annealing aluminum "stick" to the toaster oven, or can I just air it out and the smell will go away?

The metal in old soda cans is very springy, so I can understand why you wish to anneal it. You are probably a hobbyist. Yes try the toaster grill, the smell is unlikely to hang around too long, provided you use the extractor

The smell will fill and stick to the toaster oven. Part of the smell is the paint on the can. What are you using cans for to get wrinkles out of sheets?
