I went through almost the same thing with practically all of my friends when my mother was going through cancer. Peoples true colors tend to show when they're freaked out, kinda like a fight or flight reflex.
Some people just can't handle that I guess... There are those that are too self centered and then those that are just afraid and immature.
It sounds to me that you're better off without her. I'll pray for you though, hope everything gets better. And maybe one day that chick will get off her high horse and realize that you're a friend and friends are supposed to be there for eachother through thick and thin.

It's hard to get into anyone's head and try to figure out why she would do this to you, especially after so many years of being a friend. The only thing I can possibly figure is, she's frightened at the possibility of your illness, and what it will change about the friendship. She may feel you won't want to do things with her, and that she may be called upon to be of assistance while you're recovering. Some people are terror-stricken at the idea of a close friend or family member having a serious illness, and they instinctively want to retreat from the situation. Don't take it too seriously, dear, as it isn't you she's leaving, it's her own scary thoughts. My guess is, that when you recover, she'll be back to her old self again. If not, then you deserve better, more loyal friends.
Good luck on your surgery. May God bless you with a quick recovery and continued good health.

I feel like i cant really answer ur question. Maybe she just wanted you as a friend to hang with her. Once you fall, she realize that you can't hang with her to suit herself so she dumps you. Plus, maybe she doesnt want to be friends with a person with cancer (her other friends will laugh etc) . Well now you dont need her, but you can always still be warm toward her but not too enthusiastic. just so she get the meaning
I dont agree with the ppl who said that she doenst want to lose a friend, nothing can be changed if ur destiny is, well, you get me. but if she dumps you now she lose a firend anyway wether the surgery went well or not, right?
I bless your recovery with all my powers...

Your "friend" is stupid. She was pissed about you not meeting her (which is really lame by the way) and thought she had to "get you back" and the only way she knew how was to kick you while you were down, and it looks as if she did. Her dumping you as a friend was a blessing in disguise. You don't need her!

She is scared of losing a freind and doesn't know any other way of handling the sitution. Often when faced with death or just the possibity of it people often push away the ones closest to them to avoid actually dealing with the pain of losing someone they love.

I don't agree with what your friend is doing, but maybe she just can't handle seeing you suffer. Maybe she is really afraid something will happen during your surgery and she will never see you again. Give your friend some space and she will come around.
Maybe you being sick with cancer is too overwhelming for your friend.
Good luck and be well.
