This is a troll question but I'll answer it anyway.
First, sleep deprivation is torture.
Second, the Democrats were right to keep up the Republicans "all night debating." The Republicans have tied up the Senate in knots with threats to filibuster, blocking legislation. The Democrats finally said, "you're going to threaten filibuster, then let's see you deliver." It the Democrats had more of a spine, they would be making the Republicans stay up all night every single time they do this.

It is an act of torture. People become disoriented and incoherent. A man can die from sleep deprivation inside of a week to 10 days.
What the Democrats did wasn't torture. Boring yes. But not torture.

Do you really think that sleep deprivation amounts to one all-nighter? Come on, get real!
Yes, sleep deprivation is a form of torture and I find it absurd that you would compare an all night debate to sleep deprivation.

You mean crap like the war where Americans are dying? If the Republicans believe in this war so much, they should have no problem staying up all night to defend it.

Forced sleep deprivation over long periods (multiple days or weeks) causes psychological damage, and is considered torture under most international treaties.
Pulling an all-nighter sporadically as part of work is not torture -- it's just annoying -- as any attorney or doctor or fireman or computer programmer can tell you.

Everyone there was free to sleep - and many did. They brought in beds. In fact, they weren't even required to attend the session!
If you're going to ask a political question, at least educate yourself enough to understand the whole story.

that's not exactly the same thing, sleep derivation would involve things such as playing loud music, throwing water in the person's face, turning lights on and off, etc.

If it is, then all new mothers are being "tortured." The Dems are gutless surrender monkeys, similar to the French.
